How does the essay look like?

It should be noted that essays are generally in several directions of essay, most often by their origin. Some directions take on differently solved issues, others are different in length – for example, the French essay is noticeably longer;

But here we will focus mainly on essays. It deals with cultural, philosophical or current social issues. It consists of 3 basic elements:

  •       Introduction,
  •       main part,
  •       conclusion,
  •       a list of used literature.

An extraordinary type is also the argumentative essay – that is to unequivocally convince the reader of your opinion. In the following sections, we’ll explain how best you can get it. In any case, the argumentative essay is best written on a topic that you understand or is at least close to.

How to write an essay

Before you write, carefully study what you want to write about. If any unsubstantiated information should appear in the essay, your whole endeavor could be thrown away. Without enough information resources, it is not worth going into writing.

Remember that you must never copy the loaded materials without providing any resources, even in an essay. All cited and paraphrased sources need to be marked in the text and listed after the essay itself.

Outline setting

Based on the information you have received and the way you want to comment on the topic, prepare a basic essay outline. Think about which questions you want to discuss in the essay. Accordingly, prepare the individual points to match the logical sequence and correspond to the logical structure of the text.

Choosing style

The essay can be written from two different perspectives – the first or the third person. In the first person, your strong personal relationship with what you are expressing is more obvious. The third person is more trustworthy and someone can make a better impression.

Always use standard English without colloquial expressions. Although it expresses your views, the essay should still be an expert text.

Name

The title is the first thing a reader sees from an essay. Therefore, it should look interesting enough to convince everyone to read. Above all, they must clearly shed light on the subject of the essay. Often this is done very easily (eg Essay on a book).

Introduction

In the introduction, you still have to try to attract the reader – how interesting the topic itself is, as well as the way you look at it (or in the course of the next text you look at). In the first sentence, drag it into the text. Explain the topic sufficiently and present all the facts you need to work with in other parts.

The introduction may not be long, often one short paragraph is enough. Above all, show why you have chosen this topic and at the end express your thesis – the fundamental idea of ​​the work that will accompany the reader to the second, main part of the essay.

Main part

If the text is to be larger, divide it according to the outline into subchapters. Follow the prepared outline; Give each paragraph about 200-400 words and try to support only one main idea. If any sentence is not related to this idea, move it elsewhere or remove it altogether. Paragraphs must follow each other seamlessly – the last sentence of the paragraph always goes into the first sentence in the next paragraph.

Support your opinion with some convincing evidence. Use facts that leave no doubt to anyone. In addition, the correct argumentative essay must contain arguments for and against which contradict each other. By using conflicting opinions, you will then be able to better evaluate the issues raised.

To avoid unnecessarily shallow text, always ask yourself why, still look for evidence and meanings. Only then will you be able to write an essay that the reader will not leave in the course of the essay, but read with interest to the end.

Conclusion

The conclusion in the essay has an important function, and if it does not fulfill its purpose, the whole text will lose its meaning. It is important to get the reader to your side at the latest. Say a strong argument to answer the questions raised in the introduction. Do not repeat it once again, preferring to summarize your previous thoughts.

If you find that you have come to a different thesis than you have raised at the beginning, go back to the introduction and correct the thesis.

Essay in English
