Proper Writing Methods in MLA Format Paper

Proper Writing Methods in MLA Format Paper

There are many ways of structuring your thoughts and ideas, and you can’t write your academic paper as the ways given above, but still, make sure you apply the most appropriate method in your writing. When you are learning, you will find everything according to your learning style and the mode you are needed in and that’s what will keep you learning. The most typical styles taught in the schools are MLA, APA, and Chicago. But all the above writing means the same, so don’t get confused, choose the one that fits your writing style. A good finding is that the most popular methods are discussed below:

  • Using the quotation marks and italics
  • Using the scholar’s name
  • Using room for ellipses
  • Lengths of paragraphs
  • Shorthand
  • Briefing
  • Bulleted lists and subheads

Using the quotation marks

This is one of the common methods, which students often use without worry. It’s to indicate the points that you are elaborating and that’s why you use the quotation marks when you are giving statements. Remember, you are not supposed to use quotation marks even if you are using significant new ideas. It’s to hint at something that you might have hidden away. You do not use quotation marks in your information center section to explain what you intend to write in another section or create logic in other paragraphs. There are lots of instances where it is excused, and sometimes a teacher might decide to permit it, but never when deciding to discuss new ideas that are not in your text. When you choose this style, and you are referring to arguments from your lecturer, only use references and quotes, don’t use quotation marks.

Using a scholar’s name

This is another one that’s found in most texts and many students never look into it. You might be required to use a scholar’s name in your bibliography or an abstract and that’s why you have to add it, even if you are not using the research text. The significance of it is that it tells the other readers, which works to support your argument or result, depending on who you are writing for. If you are dealing with an argumentative essay, it will always go well if you have a scholar’s name or something to support your thought.

Using E-citations

When you have written all your sources, and you have combined the best methods given above, to include your citations in your work, you are good to go. However, you have to understand that you have to be very careful when doing this as not to mix up two or more work. It is good to remember that when you are writing, you have to summarize your paper, so when you combine the research work and the argumentative piece, it doesn’t make sense. When you mix them up, you will end up presenting incoherent work that doesn’t make sense. But now, this is all within the norms. We will now discuss how you can ensure that you have followed the best and proper method when citing your work.
